Welcome to the
UW-Eau Claire Trumpet Studio

The UWEC Trumpet Studio is under the direction of Mr. Robert Baca. With two concert bands, one orchestra, four jazz ensembles, and multiple jazz combos, members of the studio have a plethora of performance opportunities to take advantage of. In addition, all members play in a trumpet choir and numerous brass ensembles coached by faculty. The studio is built on a positive environment that encourages the students to constantly strive for excellence, whether that be playing morning warm-up sets with each other or having sectionals with their chosen ensembles. Furthermore, the UWEC Trumpet Studio focuses not only on pedagogy and technique of the modern trumpet player, but real-world applications that prepare students for every facet of life.

Studio members attend one class every week (two hours) in addition to a weekly lesson (half-an-hour for MUED, one hour for performance majors). Studio class is split up into two segments: one hour for a masterclass on the trumpet with guest artists, seminars, or solo performances by students, and the second hour dedicated to Trumpet Choir rehearsal directed by Mr. Baca.
